AECP HOLDS 4TH ANNUAL ENERGY EXPO
AECP held its 4th annual Energy Expo at the Roanoke Civic Center on September 12 and 13, 2003. Over 1000 people attended and enjoyed the 40 exhibits on a wide variety of energy topics. Special presentations were conducted with the help of James Madison University for 500 public school students and teachers from Roanoke City, Roanoke County, and the City of Salem public schools.
AECP BILL DEFEATED IN COMMITTEE
The Commerce and Trade Committee of the Virginia General Assembly defeated House Bill 2317 by a vote of 12-10 on January 30, 2003.
THE LTTF UNANIMOUSLY ENDORSES AECP PROPOSAL
The Legislative Transition Task Force (LTTF) unanimously endorsed the AECP legislative proposal at their meeting in Richmond on January 7, 2003. This means that the proposal will now be submitted as a bill into the Virginia General Assembly and hopefully become law. Delegate Kenneth Plum is the Chief Patron of the bill and it is now identified as House Bill 2317 (hb2317).
AECP WILL ASSIST IN UPDATING “VIRGINIA ENERGY SAVERS HANDBOOK”
Beginning in February of 2003, AECP will assist Virginia Tech University in updating and revising the “Virginia Energy Savers Handbook”. This project will be funded by the Virginia Department of Mines, Minerals, and Energy (DMME). The handbook educates, through illustrations and text, the general public how to save energy in their home.
