PROGRAM FINDS WAY TO CONTINUE WORK DURING PANDEMIC
The Virginia Weatherization Program started the New Year with all programs finding ways to weatherize homes and to do it safely within the strict new protocols of working within a pandemic. Production was slowly picking up around the state and the resilient and dedicated weatherization work force was again making homes more efficient, safer, and more affordable. But stress levels remained high as the Covid-19 virus was still a prevalent and dangerous part of everyday life. The light at the end of the tunnel seems brighter now with vaccinations increasing and more people practicing social distancing and wearing masks.
AECP HOLD VIRTUAL PEER EXCHANGE
On March 2 and 3, 2021 AECP held its first virtual Peer Exchange. The essence of the Peer Exchange over the years has been the value of face to face networking within the statewide program. So this “new” normal of virtual meetings and trying to conduct an event with face to face computer screens was indeed a challenge. The event was set as two half-day sessions with one day being an administrative breakout session and the other half day being reserved for technical and field issues. Both sessions had a panel and a moderator to promote conversation and dialogue. The Va. Dept. of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) participated both days and gave presentations on several issues during the administrative session. Covid-19 issues dominated both sessions but many other topics and issues were covered as well. This first ever event was well attended and went very smoothly with many engaging conversations, questions and answers, and important comments. The Peer Exchange again showed the importance and value of communication and simply talking to each other particularly during these very stressful times.
