AECP HOLDS 11TH ANNUAL GREEN LIVING AND ENERGY EXPO
AECP held its 11th annual Expo at the Roanoke Civic center on December 3 and 4, 2010. Along with over 80 exhibits, presentations and displays a special award was presented to Ms. Viola Henry, teacher and leader of the Thaxton Elementary School NEED program. Ms. Henry and her program have attended every Expo since the beginning and her students have had an exhbit on display each year at the event.
AECP PARTNERS WITH CHP TO DEVELOP AMERICAN ELECTRIC POWER (AEP) FOUNDATION WEATHERIZATION PROGRAM
AECP partnered with Community Housing Partners (CHP) and Appalachian Power (APCO), a subsidiary of AEP in developing a program using AEP Foundation funds which will be used to supplement weatherization jobs in the APCO service area.
AECP WORKS WITH TAP TO IMPLEMENT INNOVATIVE WEATHERIZATION PROGRAM
AECP worked with AECP member Total Action Against Poverty (TAP) to administer a grant that will weatherize homes in the Roanoke area and also install solar PV systems, geothermal heat pumps and cool roofs. AECP served as a consultant and as a final inspector in the program.

AECP RECEIVES SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
On March 26, 2010 the Roanoke Valley Cool Cities Coalition presented their 2010 Cool Citizen Award for Special Achievement to AECP. This award was in recognition of the AECP Green Living and Energy Expo, which is held in Roanoke. The Expo recently celebrated its 10th anniversary and is considered the premier energy conservation and environmental event in the region.
