Energy Efficient Lighting

  • Replacing incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent lights in high use areas (on 3-4 hours per day) can save about 50% of your lighting energy bill.
  • Compact florescent lights are more expensive but last 6-10 times longer than incandescent bulbs and they use much less wattage to produce the same amount of light.
  • Compact florescent lights are especially cost-effective in outdoor lighting use because of their long life and energy saving qualities.
  • Use natural day-lighting whenever possible. Open the drapes and decorate rooms with lighter colors that reflect daylight.
  • Purchase Energy Star compact fluorescent lighting when shopping.
